Noted - added to the list. Sorry about that, I guess it would be useful
if we supplied the needed plugin ;^)

Yep, I ran into the lack of an RPM as well. I expected to find it, seeing
as how theres all those vis plugins available. But the tarball compiles
nicely so long as you have libxmms1-devel installed (and I think I saw it
looking for gtk as well...)

Note to Stew - it doesn't seem like the xmms-cdread plugin
is actually in the PPC/Mandrake distro - it might not be a bad idea
to do that, since a good percentage of PPC/Mandrake users may be iMac owners!

Thank you so much!! I didn't realize Stew had compiled a new version - I
grabbed the new version & then grabbed the 11d tar.gz and compiled it
(apparently the src.rpm is somehow screwy) - and now everything works like
a CHARM!
Thank you again,
Brice

Out of curiousity - which version of xmms-cdread are you using?

Just a heads up on this in case you haven't discovered it - xmms and
supermount do not play together well. Umount /mnt/cdrom if it's
supermounted before trying to do anything with xmms. iMacLinux used to
have a pretty good HowTo on doing this with the newer machines, but it's
still down =(. I'
Addendum to my last posting - I can get the CD listing (even cddb) by adding
/dev/cdrom to my playlist (I didn't realize before that this was how it was
done w/ the cdread plugin) - but upon trying to play a track, I segfault
xmms.
I might actually try to debug what's going on ... but probably

Ian,
Thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately, xmms doesn't seem to do
the trick either. I'm not sure what's going on here. When I run the command
'amixer' to check the levels of the various inputs and outputs - I notice
the following under 'CD':
Group 'CD',0

cannot play my CDs. I'm using the ALSA system - and if I test the audio
