It definitely takes more than an hour for a 3-pound bird to cook. I
say more like 1 hour and 15 or 1 hour and 30.

Hi,
I figured it would take longer than an hour to get even a 3-pound chicken
completely done. Searing the skin helps seal in the juices and allowing the
chicken to rest after cooking helps to re-distribute them. Would placing the
spices under the skin better season the chicken?
Thanks,
Nancy
I wonder if you placed uncooked bacon on the outside if that would make a
difference too? I know when my mom does the turkey that's how she does it
and mmm is it tasty.

Hi Donald.
Firstly, if your microwave is a domestic model it will only have one
magnetron. Now for a test you can do. Put some water in a coffee mug,
and place it inside the microwave making careful note as to where the
handle is. Run the oven for a few seconds, then open the door and check
That's actually a really good way to make the meat.
The lower you cook meat, there is less likelihood of shrinkage and
loss of moisture. Your method is basically involving searing the meat
on the outside and that method works best for keeping the moisture in
the meat. It's also highly recommended
I struggled with getting a nice moist whole chicken, until I started cooking
them this way. This has worked for me on the past half dozen birds I have
done, and I hope someone else finds it helpful.

When was the last time you cleaned out the inside of your microwave,
especially the top surface inside?

Hello,
I have recently noticed that when I am heating things in my microwave with
the rotating plate inside the food items seem to be cooking unevenly. It is
not with every item.
Is there a test that a blind person can do to check if one of the magnotrons
has stopped working in my microwave.
