I'm tracing my dad's ancestors - and know that William McFarland was born around 1818 (tombstone and death record) in Ireland, and I believe from County Tyrone. His death certificate lists his parents as Andrew McFarland and Catherine Murrey. Census reports say William immigrated from Ireland to New Brunswick, Canada in 1833 or 1834. DNA testing found a second cousin, who's great-great-grandfather Andrew McFarland appears to be William's brother (She has Andrew born abt 1815, death 13 Dec 1894 in Alma, Albert, New Brunswick, Canada). There may be a sister, Elizabeth as well. Her records show Andrew McFarland (BIRTH ABT 1781 * Ireland; DEATH Albert, New Brunswick) and Catherine Unknown (BIRTH ABT 1782 * Ireland; DEATH New Brunswick) which matches my names but also includes dates.
I understand that Irish records from that time are hard to find, especially without knowing townland or parish. But if anyone has any suggestions, or is linked to that family, I would appreciate the help! Thank you Mary McFarland Purchase
