Hello, I have been comtemplating writing a pre-DATA hook into courier to allow for more efficient greylisting. I guess it would actually hook into the RCPT TO: handler. The biggest problem with the current method (in my opinion) is that it runs so late in the process, after having already recieved

What it boils down to is BL checks should not be performmed on authenticated SMTP connections. I believe Courier does this by default. So that, if I'm on a IP Address that is in the SBL/XBL list, a normal SMTP delivery will be blocked, but by authenticating I bypass the blacklist check. Thus, as
