Well some IMAP systems donot correctly get the details from the server like
the root folder details, but OE 6.x seems to have improved its behavior
given INBOX. as its root folder path. Netscape is especially notorious for
this. Hence when you try to create a folder it is put beneath the Inbox on
Hi Chad,
Have you tried this software out as yet ? I did give it a shot but the
problem is that I get everything dumped into the Inbox, I tried the Courier
server with the root as "INBOX.", would I be wrong in doing that ???

Aly.

What would be even cooler would be if your NT clients could authenticate off
the OpenLDAP server, this would save you alot of headaches. But someone said
that http://www.css-solutions.ca/ad4unix/ maybe useful if you want the
reverse but you will have to use authldap for it.

Folks,
I concur with Jesse, remember that Courier is a sort of Exchange type
replacement on *nix software. If you were to have an Imap problem would it
be the case that you would join 2 lists one to report the smtp part and the

Why ? Courier is a whole suite, it isn't like Exim just an MTA.

We have tried to use the imapxfer program that comes with UW-IMAP utils kit, this

I think that Exim is much more flexible and nice. I think that its a matter of
preference, Imapd and Sqwebmail from the Courier suite are much nicer for their
relative service that they offer.

Aly.

Hi ,
I think that you are missing the point, when I started to do things it wasn't easy
especially with LDAP, naturally one does get frustated. The point is that if your
System Admin skills aren't sharp then you need to work those first as any other
package you try to install you will run
Quite realistic, its like NIS and NIS+ from Sun they are used for more than just
authentication, FNS part of Sun's NIS+ was (if I am not wrong) was used for printing
supports and a whole load of other stuff, LDAP is the best way to go and I once heard
rumours that they are going to phase out NI
To add to Anand's point I have used the OpenLDAP libs to connect to an Iplanet
(Netscape) LDAP server so I think that the connection to a Netware LDAP server should
work fine.

Yes SqWebmail works excellent, the idea is excellent too, we have squirrel mail and
some people on campus dislike it some do like it. Plus you just use the same auth
modules and similar if not same config files.

Hi Folks,
I hope that you are well. In the authldaprc file can you specify more
than one ldap server ? In case one goes down does courier have the ability
to switch to using another ldap server on the network.
Thank you in advance.
Cheers,
Aly.

You simply have to bear with them, it happens with our school mail server
currently running Netscape Messaging Server 3.x, I think that this is
something maybe M$ has to fix.

Indeed you have to be joking man !! Sam feel
Exim has a the same command line parameters as sendmail actually, this is to
keep compatability with sendmail, I find that it is just that Sendmail was
horrible, even our comp sci department has issues with it but want to stick
to it since it is stock Sun software, but Exim has offered alot more,
I agree that has indeed been our choice here at the University of
Lethbridge, we have Exim + Courier Imap Server running on a blazing fast
machine and that makes it a powerful machine/system.

Aly.

After you compile courier try going to the authlib directory and check if
there is a ./authinfo binary run it and find out what is compiled as a
authentication modules first.

All,
Yes I think that something like that - caching system - would indeed be
useful for databases such as ldap which we would prefer not being hammered
as our Solaris servers may crack under pressure :) :) :) just kidding

Just a BTW not a related topic, it seems that the domain pm0.net is regarded
as a spam site and has been blocked by a great many sites recently.
Currently it was talked about on the Exim mailing list.

Hi All,
We have setup a test system with Exim + Courier Imap and Netscape LDAP,
I have had the LDAP Administrator add the relevent attributes to the LDAP
entries. Since all the mail users are authenticated by the LDAP system and
before we turn the switch on I would like to know who should own
Well you could write a simple shell script such as:
