Hi,
I want to block smtp relay for some outside users but they should still be
able to receive email.
If the user authenticates he can send email from any place.
Since there is no "disablesmtp" option on authdaemon how can I do this?

Courier rejects email from any sender like [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note the dot
just before de @ sign)
with "517 Syntax error."
Do this email format violates any RFC?

putting the postmaster entry on the an alias file dos not work for
hosteddomains. Is that right?

I think "courier restart" should have a timeout to kill "courieresmtpd"
processes that doesn't finish ther delivers on a certain ammount of time.
I've experienced delays greater than 2 hours. During that time the server
don´t deliver any local or remote message.

I've got about 800 domains listed on "hosteddomains" file.
When I add a new one and update the .dat by running "makehosteddomains"
Courier does not
dos not accept the new domain until I restart the esmtpd server.
The DNS MX is correctly configured sinse the messages arrive after the
restart.

sorry for returning for this so discussed matter.
In the patch below I suggest that there is NO change in the behavior of
Courier related to email servers that violates RFC2045 EXCEPT if the
environment variable IGNORE_RFC2045 is set to '1'.
So for those who must accept these messages
