So I think I may have the issue nearly entirely solved... However, I really
want to log maildrop's activities as well as I want courier to log when it
calls maildrop.
Does anyone know how to do this?

I want to use gMail as my mail relay since my ISP blocks outgoing
connections to port 25. I am having difficulties...
If I set it to use TLS (/SECURITY=STARTTLS) in my esmtproutes file gmail
responds to the relay attempt with an error 500 that it cannot set minimum
security level.

I have now figured out the problem, and a very simple problem it is...
I have to thank the previous posted (I'm using cone right now to type this
so I can't go back and look at his name) as the instruction there was to
check out INSTALL about the TLS issue. I understand now why it doesn't work
