Hey Andy, Congrats on the growth! We've run multiple gallery shows out of The Coop. It's a really great way to bring new folks into your space that haven't been. A couple things I'd consider...
- You're not a professional gallery. Make sure the artists involved know that and keep expectations honest. If this is your first time putting up work, there is a good chance that you won't sell any. That's okay! Just make sure the artists putting in their time know that going into it. - Get the show hung and on the walls multiple days before you have an opening. Especially your first show, make sure you have a few days to see how things work and deal with any unexpected issues that come up. - Have a clear date that you expect that show to come down. You don't want to hang on to artist's work after the show is over as it's a liability and easy to damage. Make sure you have a plan to take down the work BEFORE you put up the show. - It's always a great time to document your space, so make sure you take photos! - Lastly, make sure people know that they are in a Coworking space! We printed vinyl on the wall when you walked in that explained what are space was and how folks can take advantage of the space. We have postcards, typically make a brief announcement and make it clear so there is some benefit to the space. I'm sure there is more! I am happy to get on a phone call to chat if you have any other questions. I think the opportunity to hang nice work is a really wonderful thing. Since you aren't focused on selling work, you have the chance to put up interesting pieces of art that are meaningful to you and don't necessarily have other venues that might get as much traffic as your space.
