Missed out on the GCUC action this year, sounded like a huge step up from last year's event which I still have fond memories (and tinge of regrets on the lack of progress toward my coworking project) from...
Anyways, to cut to the chase: My two-person design studio (http://designkompany.com) is hosting a bunch of "off-line conversation" events this year called Orangutan Swing (http://orangutanswing.com). We are planning to take this homespun movement on the road next month to Washington D.C., NYC and Boston. The big idea around these events is to gather a small number (up to 50 or so, typically around 30) of eclectic, wide-ranging (in industry and age) group in a cozy space, and have a _very_ open dialogue on a deliberately vague topic: in this case, the concept of "aether" and its contemporary analogues. As I was talking to a few of the folks who are interested in helping us carry this out from the ground, it dawned to us that coworking community would be a really good fit, so I'm reaching out especially to those of you who are based in these cities for a little bit of help. Here are the two things we need: space and participants. Space—we are looking for a cozy, public (so people can "stumble on" ideally), quiet-ish (but not completely silent) space that are free (we are doing this "tour" completely out of our pocket). Not necessarily coworking spaces per se, but if any of the spaces are interested that would be awesome, too. Or, if you know a perfect coffee shop/bar/restaurants (and/or you know someone there to hook us up with), that would be much appreciated. Participants—anyone who's interested and open to improvised chatting on the topic, and willing to put their unique perspective out there to share. If you know a community that would be receptive/interested, I'd really appreciate your help in spreading the word.
