Hi all!

I've just become aware of this group through Tony at New Work City. Allow
me to formally introduce myself. I am the President & COO of an
organization called WIMP: Web & Interactive Media Professionals.

We started out as a meetup.com group 3 years ago to try and bring web and
digital media industry folks together in our area. Sonoma County is a big
place, mostly rural, about an hour or so north of San Francisco. While
we're pretty darn close to one of the big technological hubs of the world,
we really don't have the infrastructure the city or Silicon Valley has so
most people like us were all spread out and largely unaware of each others'
existence.

After only a few years we actually have a community of over 400 local
Wimps, many of which are self employed. As you can imagine the concept of
having a coworking space is the next logical step. We also plan on starting
up WIMP chapters in other areas of the world too, but that's a topic in of
itself :)

I'm basically in the information absorption stage at this point. We've
obviously got the community in place. We're going to start doing popup
coWIMP (hah) events where we hop around to different cafes and things to
see how many folks are able to translate theoretical interest into physical
proof of concept. We've got a few different options on the table for spaces
in Santa Rosa so it's kind of exciting to be at a point where it really
looks like it's going to happen.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here and learning from your
successes and failures!

And for anyone interested in learning more about WIMP or even joining our
awesome and super active Facebook group, check us out at www.beawimp.org

Cheers!
