This raises a markup issue rather than a CSS question. Nevertheless /I
think/ the markup resolution may be quite simple.
Assuming this is the reference:
<http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fhomepage.mac.com%2Fcynvill_3%2Fwebsite%2Fjournalism.html>

1/ Backup the file.
2/ Go to Tidy Online (html cleaning and error correction software)
<http://infohound.net/tidy/tidy.pl>
3/ *Paste* the entire file in the html box, and hit the "green tidy arrow"
4/ Tidy will shoot you to a page listing errors and warnings. Hit the
link that reads "view tidied HTML"
5/ Paste the tidied file in the w3c markup validation service:
<http://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_input>
6/ Cross your fingers...

Best,
