The *Foehn*, as this wind is known in Switzerland and southern Germany, is
called "the wind that drives men mad." The suicide rate goes up sharply, cases
of depression increase, reports of migraine headaches rise asymptotically...
Wherever it occurs, it causes untold agony. The Santa Ana of Southern
California is particularly notorious, not least because it also brings
wildfires.

Incidentally, you can track weather systems quite precisely by logging the
complaints of migraine patients, who are often especially sensitive to even
very small changes in air pressure and ionic charge. (As I know from miserable
personal experience...)
