A lot of conservatives are blaming Reno for Ruby Ridge. This is no accident and it is coming from the top down. George Herbert Walker Bush was president when the siege of Ruby Ridge began. It is in the best interest of all Republicans to forget this and blame Janet Reno for Ruby Ridge. If you really want to know the truth -- you have to know the truth about Republicans, conservatives, Democrats, liberals and everything else. .. communists and Christians included! No group can be or should be exempted from the truth. Now -- let's get the time line right --- What year did Ruby Ridge happen? -- 1992 Who was president in 1992? -- George H. W. Bush -- father of George W. Bush When did Janet Reno become Attorney General? -- 1993 after the Siege of Waco BEGAN -- Do you even know what went on at Ruby Ridge? Did you take the time to find out the real story? Or did you just believe what the media and Hollywood told you? Here is a small excerpt from someone who lived through Ruby Ridge. This is taken from Maynard Campbell's book: "Assault at Ruby Creek -- The Idaho Massacre" (Campbell was jailed shortly after the publication of this book, and was murdered in our Federal Gulag. For days, her mother's body, covered by a blanket, lay in a pool of blood in the kitchen. Her ten month old baby sister wanted to be breast fed and was crying "Mama" as Federal agents lit the cabin with floodlights and tried to coax the family to the door. "I was praying that if they were going to kill us, they'd take us all at once, because I couldn't stand to see any more of my family hurt." said Sara Weaver, 16, "I couldn't watch them pick us off one at a time. By now anyone with access to a TV has seen yesterday morning's appalling images of federal INS agents trashing a Miami home ("smash & grab seizure") to "rescue" 6-year old Elian Gonzales. Just as Randy Weaver likely would have surrendered if the local sheriff had knocked on his door and David Koresh could have been picked as he was out jogging, federal agents could have patiently waited for a more opportune moment to effect a far less dramatic (not to mention traumatic) transfer. As the events in Miami have unfolded ---snip -- a number of talking heads in the media have blamed Janet Reno for "Ruby Ridge, Waco and now Miami". In fact, Ruby Ridge occurred a year before Janet "Barbecue" Reno took over at the Justice Dept. By the time she was appointed, the government's case against Randy Weaver and Kevin Harris was already unraveling in a Boise courtroom, resulting in the acquittal of Kevin Harris on all charges and of Randy Weaver on all charges except failure to appear. Janet Reno could have done little with regard to Ruby Ridge except to abort the Federal government's pathetic prosecution; she does, however, bear full responsibility for the Justice Department's obfuscation and failure to account and compensate for its actions and to hold its hired killers responsible for for the slayings of Vicki and Sammy Weaver. Eight years later, one civil case and one criminal case are still bogged down in the Federal court system. Update as of 4/22/2000 Fourteen months later, not much has changed: Idaho's appeal of the dismissal of the criminal case against Lon Horiuchi is still pending.
