Gore would at least be acceptable to them, even knowing the depth of his liberalism, because he is after all a Vietnam veteran rather than a draft-dodger. There are others in Washington, not necessarily among the military, whose hatred extends beyond Clinton personally to include everything the Democratic party has historically stood for; *they* might very well try to kill Gore to prevent a thoroughgoing liberal from becoming president. This country is poised on the edge of a very deep abyss. Somehow we have to keep our balance and pull ourselves back from the brink...but there are many, many people jumping up and down and doing their best to push us over the edge.
