The premise then was, that if INTERTEL, which had recruited well placed agents from almost every federal agency, policed the gambling industry, organized crime could be kept out. In the book, THE COMPANY THAT BOUGHT THE BOARDWALK, INTERTEL was described as a merger of former FBI, CIA, Customs, BTFA, IRS and other federal agents --- with organized crime. Before INTERTEL, Peloquin Sr. ran the PARADISE ISLAND CASINO in the Bahamas for Lansky (which is interesting since Keating has his mansion base in the Bahamas --- on Paradise Island). The parent company of INTERTEL is RESORTS INTERNATIONAL, which changed its name from MARY CARTER PAINT COMPANY. MARY CARTER PAINT was reported, in a significant May 20, 1976 article by Howard Kohn in ROLLING STONE, to have been founded by Allen Dulles, the Director of CIA under Eisenhower and Kennedy. Michael J. Peloquin purchased what would become the ACC Headquarters property April 2, 1979, from James E. Patrick II and Herman Chanen for $550,000. The subsequent sale to Keating was a bump of $2.5 million in only 8 months! What is more, Patrick and Chanen are not stupid when it comes to real estate value.             The information that you have published on the aforementioned website impeaches the honesty, integrity and reputation of Michael J. Peloquin and is libelous and actionable.  Your publishing of this information imputes Michael J. Peloquin as being involved, associated or related to criminal offenses and matters incompatible with business, trade, professional or office.  By associating Michael J. Peloquin with Charles Keating and through innuendo contending that the sale of American Continental Corporation property by our client to Charles Keating’s company, suggests a kickback or something less than an arms-length transaction with Keating, a well-known figure associated with the largest savings and loan failure in history, is false, defamatory and actionable against you as the article’s publisher.        Moreover, Michael J. Peloquin is not the son of Robert Peloquin, nor does he have any relation to Robert Peloquin.  Your failure to verify the truth of the contention that Robert Peloquin is Michael J. Peloquin’s father, and thereby your publishing of the article, is actuated by malice or in reckless disregard of the truth or falsity of those statements linking Michael J. Peloquin with Robert Peloquin.  By associating Michael J. Peloquin with Robert Peloquin, Intertel, Meyer Lansky, the mafia, organized crime, and Charles Keating (including the linkage between the Lansky Casino and Keating’s mansion in the Bahamas), these false and defamatory statements are actionable against you as the publisher, as well.    As a result of your publishing this article, you are liable to Michael J. Peloquin for damages for defamation, false light, invasion of privacy, and the intentional infliction of emotional distress.  Your publication of the subject article consists of extreme and outrageous conduct that exceeds all bounds usually tolerated by a decent society making you liable for direct, compensatory, incidental, special and consequential damages, together with punitive damages.  In view of the above, demand is hereby made upon you to immediately remove the defamatory information from your website no later than Friday, October 14, 2005, or we will have no choice but to begin legal proceedings against you.    In addition, we request the benefit of your written confirmation by that date that you have in fact removed the subject article as demanded. Please take notice that your failure to comply with this demand will cause you further exposure to significant liability and damages arising from your wrongful publication of the subject article.    You are urged to consider the seriousness of this matter as you contemplate whether to remove the article from the website.    Please be guided accordingly.
