Bin Laden kin may 'be in Pakistan'

After interrogating three Arab women, held in remote areas of the Balochistan
province on Wednesday, authorities in Pakistan are said to "have some
indications" that other relatives of Osama Bin Laden may also be in the
country.

Though sources declined to make any confirmation, the three Arab women, who
are of Yemeni origin, are thought to be the relatives of one of Osama's
wives. Sources say only that there are "being questioned on important
matters."

While the women, held alongside a larger group, are believed to have only
recently entered Pakistan, there is speculation that other relatives of Osama
may have done so earlier.

"There are some grounds to believe that at least one brother-in-law of Osama
may have travelled to Pakistan earlier. He may have moved to a city like
Lahore or Karachi, where detection is harder, but we are as yet not sure
about any of this, and it could be mere speculation," said a source.

Most of the relatives thought to be with Bin Laden in Afghanistan are known
to be kin of his wives. Osama's own family is estranged from him. It is
thought that some of these relatives could have headed into Pakistan several
weeks or even months ago, while authorities are also on the look out for any
attempt to establish a network within the country.

"We believe none is operative at present, and we would like to keep it that
way. There are lists available of people who are aides of Osama, and we are
on the hunt for them," said a senior intelligence official.
