-Caveat Lector-

So the NEA is not a non-partisan organization and should be in
charge of all of our children? That is fair? This would explain a
great deal of their agenda and non-academic endeavors for the
schools are pushing such a heavy load of social engineering
(brainwashing) that they no longer even bother to teach the kids to
read. Taxes are paid by most Americans and this is very wrong.

Campaign Finance Reform Alert: NEA Equals DNC

Late last week the Wall Street Journal took notice of a massive
abuse of the campaign finance laws, a trend uncovered by a Landmark
Legal Foundation review of National Education Association documents
released by the Federal Election Commission in May.

Despite the NEA's supposedly non-partisan status, the documents
show the teachers union is more than just a powerful interest group
within the Democratic Party. In fact the NEA is now so powerful, in
many respects the Democratic National Committee has become its
wholly owned subsidiary.

In the FEC documents, "the NEA's name surfaces again and again as
one of those organizations that, in return for financial
contributions, were given seats on campaign committees in 1996 as
well as the right to approve or reject the Democratic agenda,"
reported the Journal.

"Imagine the outrage if it emerged that the Republican National
Committee had given HMOs and the oil companies a veto over the
Republican Party platform in exchange for contributions," Landmark
Legal President Mark Levin posited.

In fact, it's worse than that, since the NEA enjoys tax-exempt
status.

"Here you have the largest union in the country apparently doing it
with tax-exempt dollars and then turning around and telling the IRS
they're spending nothing on politics," Levin complained.

The FEC report lists a whole host of Democratic Party operations
which the NEA either bankrolls or actively participates in.

So, where are the campaign finance reform crusaders when it comes
to such a blatant abuse of the federal election laws?

Why haven't good government media darlings like Sens. McCain and
Feingold or Reps. Shays and Meehan taken to the stump to denounce
the NEA and demand that FEC regulations be enforced?

Who knows?

But the fact that they haven't speaks volumes about the real agenda
of the campaign finance reform crowd.
