"Before Charles Manson visited the open 'parties' at the meetings of
Jean Brayton's Solar Lodge of the OTO, he already had a sort of history of
occultism himself.
"Allegedly Manson first got interested in Scientology while he was
incarcerated in the McNeil Island Penitentiary in Washington. (Scientology
had RECRUITING programs in prisons ...) It is said that Manson received 150
hours of Scientology 'auditing.'
"After his release from prison, Manson went to Los Angeles where he was
said to have met local Scientologists and attended several parties for movie
stars, possibly the July 18 dedication of Scientology's first Celebrity
Center in Hollywood. Manson was eager to meet celebrities in order to find
producers for his guitar music. (For example, he contacted Terry Melcher,
Doris Day's son, and a member of the Beach Boys.)
"There are hints that shortly afterwards he got involved with the Solar
Lodge of the OTO and may have also encountered The Process, a Satan-oriented
group which broke away from Scientology, which itself had its own history
with Crowley's OTO ...
"[The Solar Lodge] held 'profane parties' to bring in the masses, and
people were attracted to the idea of a special, semi-secret organization with
rituals, with 'sex and good drugs and groovy people' ... About 50 non-members
had been attracted, among them Hollywood stars ... [But] the most famous
guest was Charles Manson ..."

"When it became known that Manson had been a guest at Brayton's OTO,
Grady McMurtry [head of a rival OTO group in Southern California] informed on
Brayton to the FBI so as to avoid becoming HIMSELF a subject of the FBI's
investigation.
"He also fed material to journalist Ed Sanders, who returned the favor
by avoiding mention of McMurtry in his book 'The Family.' In fact, newer
editions of Sanders' book do not contain references to ANY lodge of the OTO."

"One member of the Manson family, Bobby Beausoleil, had lived with movie
maker Kenneth Anger [whose credits include 'Invocation of My Demon Brother,'
in which Mick Jagger participated, and 'Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome.']
Before participating in the murder of Hollywood celebrities, Beausoleil acted
as Lucifer in Anger's movie 'Lucifer Rising.' While in prison, he composed
the music for the movie.
"Kenneth Anger was also instrumental in founding Anton LaVey's Church of
Satan [LaVey had been the 'technical advisor' for 'Rosemary's Baby,' starring
Manson victim Sharon Tate.] Today, Kenneth Anger is a close friend of
William Breeze, the Caliph of the new OTO group founded as a consequence of
the Solar Lodge scandals ... "
