-Caveat Lector- "DECEMBER'S SEVEN": "SAMSON" DETHRONED! --------------------------------------- (CNNS, 12/14/98) -- A "reverse speech" analysis on remarks made by U.S. "Defense" Secretary Cohen had revealed "Bring in NASA with December's seven." This analysis, obtained by playing taped remarks by Cohen backwards, is reminiscent of similar results obtained by playing old Beatles records in reverse. Around 1970, this editor played portions of the Beatles' "Revolution #9" in reverse and was startled to hear, "Turn me on, dead man." David John Oates has used this "reverse speech" technique in an attempt to fathom what is really on the minds of certain public figures. Samples of these reversals can be heard at Oates' web site, http://www.reversespeech.com As in the case of UFOs, the "serious" scientific community is likely to just ignore the reverse speech phenomena and consider it as beneath their "dignity" to investigate. But CNNS (Conspiracy Nation News Service) looks to the future; the next generation of scientists, if history is a reliable guide, are apt to eventually give Oates' "reverse speech" concept some credence. Mr. Oates connects the explicit "December 7th" date in Cohen's reversal with the orbiting space station: It is interesting to note that on December the seventh, seven astronauts, the leader on his 7th space walk, joined the two major sections of the space station together and started a new era for NASA and the human race. But Oates has also found, during the past year or so, a heavy mention of December -- the entire month -- in his various reversals. "For almost a year now, I have been receiving veiled references in reverse to some event or social shift happening in the month of December," he writes. One metaphorical reference in particular keeps appearing: "Samson." The Biblical Samson lost his strength after the seductress Delilah cut his hair. Given Bill Clinton's current troubles, the allusion seems quite specific. But Oates sees the metaphor as more wide-reaching than just political troubles for Bill Clinton: This December, writes Oates, will be the month in which the process of discarding the fabrications of the past begins. The "fabrications of the past" -- the WORLD OF LIES -- is beginning to crumble, if Oates is correct. The foundation for the WORLD OF LIES is, say many, economic: the money buys the power, and the powerful spew out the lies. But should the ECONOMIC LIE (the Economic Bubble) collapse, then the SPEWERS OF LIES, the powerful and their minions, will have lost their energy source. Several stories have appeared these past few days, indicating increased troubles in the global economy. Here are some of them: 1) "Signs abound that both the American and the global economies are slowing." (NYTimes, 12/13/98. "Many Brake Lights On The Economic Road") Among the "signs": Federal Reserve "beige book" report finds slower growth, reduced exports, and weak retail sales in November; lower overseas sales reported by large corporations; J.P. Morgan warns investors to expect "sharply" lowered earnings; greatest number of job cuts in 5 years; commodity indices, at lowest levels in decades, forecast worldwide deflation. 2) Business confidence in Japan is at a record low. The level of confidence is at its lowest point since 1967 in Japan, based on the "tankan" survey. (AP, 12/13/98. "Bank of Japan Survey Shows Worsening Business Sentiment.") 3) Royal Dutch-Shell is expected to implement "a sweeping cost-cutting program." (AP, 12/13/98. "Royal Dutch-Shell To Announce Major Cuts.") This follows the "lean and mean" Exxon-Mobil merger, also expected to result in major layoffs. 4) In Taiwan, there are RECORD AMOUNTS of overdue loans, along with business bankruptcies and "financial troubles." (AP, 12/14/98. "Taiwanese Banks Report Record Overdue Loans.") The USA is not an island in the new-fangled "global economy." Contrary to some perceptions, the USA is not a "Magic Kingdom" immune to shock waves from foreign economic turmoil.
