Last week the Mayor of Dade County [yup, the County has a mayor] indicated his police force would NOT partake of the fray on the side of the law, ie, he has already declared Dade to be an independent country. If I were the relatives, I'd secretly spirit Elian out another door to an undisclosed location and let the demonstrators defend the homestead.So here we have a situation similar to the proverbial mother-in-law going over the cliff in your new Mercedes. Do we relish in watching the government fail, or, in the alternative, incinerate 3,000 Cubans? Your guess is as good as mine, but I hardly think these uppity wetbacks are going to back down and comply with the Justice Department's Order.
