Contrary to reports, the change of ownership at CSKA Sofia will
not affect the deal.

Former club president Ilia Pavlov and his board sanctioned the
move last month, but Pavlov was removed from the club last
weekend.

A UEFA pre-contract had already been signed, however, and the
deal was never in any jeopardy.

Internal turmoil at CSKA has not prevented the deal going

Petrov's club, CSKA Sofia, has been split in two following an
acrimonious dispute. Club president Ilia Pavlov, whose board
agreed the deal with Celtic, has been booted out along with his
fellow directors.

Kenny Dalglish represented the Parkhead club at a hearing
yesterday, putting forward the club's case for signing the player
to the ...

 ... tomorrow morning.

But while it's believed Petrov will be given the green light to
come to Scotland, CSKA's internal divisions could yet scupper the
deal.

Last weekend the club's members voted to remove Pavlov as
president, replacing him with former player Luboslav Penev. Penev
in turn sacked the coach, his namesake Dmitar, and replaced him
with Stoycho Mladenov.

The situation became farcical when Pavlov refused to go,
insisting that he and his board - which consitute a limited
company - are the rightful owners and that Lubo Penev is merely
president of the football operation.

It's complicated further by the Bulgarian Sports Minister
declarating that he will recognise Penev as the official
president, a ruling Pavlov has vowed to overturn in court.

If Penev is successful, then Celtic may have to renegotiate the
transfer with the new administration, who will want to distance
themselves from the decisions taken by the previous, unpopular
board of directors.

The Bulgarian duo are remaining ...

Neither Petrov, 19, nor Petkov, 25, are European Union nationals
but both are current internationals and it is anticipated they
should be able to join the club without restrictions once formal
approval is granted.

Pavlov said: "I'm very confident both will be Celtic players by
the weekend. I have enjoyed the discussions with Celtic and found
them to be professional in the way they go about their business."
