-Caveat Lector- Even more curious is the persistence with which the fact that Southerners regularly state they were fighting for independence and State's Rights is ignored. Only 3% were slave owners, hardly enough for such drastic measures. Southerners are not even thinking about race/slaves/blacks when they love Dixie. That was a pretext for waging war on the South.
