On : the first night of Hanukkah, we light one candle - one tiny candle of light : against the darkness. But on the second day, we light two candles, and on : the third day, three candles, culminating in eight candles on the last day. : The message, although subtle, is clear. Even one candle dispels darkness, : but we have the obligation to add a little more light to the world each day. : : Our nation is also facing some rather dark days, and I believe the story of : Hanukkah contains important messages for all of us - Jews, non-Jews, and : atheists alike.
