The shipment of 92 packages was hidden in metal tubes holding a cover of the freight compartment, border customs' spokeswoman Kalina Petrova told Reuters by telephone. The Volvo truck, carrying sweets, was crossing the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint with Turkey. The two Albanian citizens in the truck were detained. Bulgaria, which borders Turkey, Greece, Yugoslavia, Macedonia and Romania, lies on the so-called Balkan route for smuggling drugs from Asia to western Europe.
