-Caveat Lector- According to the Boston Federal Reserve, the Bureau of Printing & Engraving prints US currency totalling $5.4 billion each year. The Boston Fed also state that as at the end of 1999, there was approximately $490 billion United States currency in circulation and that two-thirds of this ($326 billion) is held in countries other than the US.According to an economic post I recently saw but cannot now locate, something like 80% of the US Treasury market is funded from foreign nations (does anyone know what the total annual Treasury market is worth?).I also seem to recall that the annual turnover of the narcotics business in the USA is somewhere around US$400 billion (can anyone confirm this? I think Mike Ruppert included these stats in a story some while back?).Assuming all three sets of information cited above are accurate (or nearly accurate), then we appear to have a conundrum.Just how can $5.4 billion new currency purchase $400 billion drugs each year? And how does two-thirds of this ($3.5 billion) get offshore every year? And, presumably, once it is offshore, most of it turns around and heads back to the US via the purchase of US Treasuries - making it all a giddy go-around.Does this mean that the US Treasury market absorbs most of the drug money in circulation?Does anyone know if anyone has conducted any meaningful investigation/analysis of drug cash-flows, newly minted currency and the US Treasury market, as it would be nice to know exactly how this whole caboodle shapes up and works in practise?
