Indeed, Berlet's definition of 'Conspiracism' sounds like something that the Ministry of Homeland Security might find very handy as they fight the good fight against the evildoers.

So, lets see if you pigeon-hole people in to little isms, you may distort
what they really are and get other folks to "shun" them and worse, out of
ignorance and/or a clash of belief systems. Sounds logical to me . . .
Basically a constructed duality, . . . and you call me an Gnostic. Why do you
always try to label me?.  I mean, I have only label for you . . . and it is
even in the dictionary, guess them dictionary guys are just closer to the
street that you fancy guy's in your "ivory" towers.

And again you put words in my mouth, I have not acknowledged at all, that I
am influence by your "taint" of conspiracism, I do not believe everything I
read and the study of conspiracies and conspiracy theory does not mean that
one is looking for a "scapegoat" with a hero complex. The definition given by
Mr. Berlet, seems more a description of the George W Bush's description of
the events of 9/11?

"Conspiracism: A form of scapegoating that portrays the enemy as part

of a vast insidious plot against the common good. Conspiracism

assigns tiny cabals of evildoers a superhuman power to control

events, frames social conflict as part of a transcendent struggle

between Good and Evil, and makes leaps of logic, such as guilt by

association, in analyzing evidence. Often employs common fallacies of

logic in analyzing factual evidence to assert connections, causality,

and intent that are nonexistent. A distinct narrative form of

scapegoating, conspiracism uses demonization to justify constructing

the scapegoats as wholly evil while reconstructing the scapegoater as

a hero. Sees secret plots by tiny cabals of evildoers as the major

motor powering important historical events. "

So, Ed have you ever read Carroll Quigley?
