They said missiles landed near two hotels where Westerners were staying, and that warning sirens sounded at the headquarters of the U.S.-led administration in the Iraqi capital. Late on Wednesday, guerrillas fired a missile that hit a heavily guarded Baghdad hotel used by Westerners after deadly attacks earlier on Christmas Eve. Wednesday's attack caused no casualties, but three U.S. soldiers died in a bomb blast north of Baghdad and a suicide car bomber killed himself and four other people in northern Iraq. About 90 minutes after the hotel was hit, U.S. aircraft and artillery pounded suspected guerrilla hideouts in southern Baghdad for a second night. © Reuters 2003.
