All members of the House of Representatives were invited to a closed-meeting with Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Robert Mueller, Homeland Security Undersecretary Asa Hutchinson and John Brennan, a representative of the Central Intelligence Agency. "There is a steady drumbeat of reporting," Christopher Cox, chairman of the House homeland security committee, told reporters. "The threat has not abated." Cox declined to elaborate, but said President George W. Bush's administration was concerned the al-Qaeda terror network might try to strike on US soil in the hope of influencing the outcome of the US election, just as it did in Spain last March.
