DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE
Moveon.org continues to inspire us to take action to stop the war. But I call your attention to some people from unanswered questions.org who are passing out flyers at the 10/26 rally in DC (and hopefully SF) about the torpedoed 9/11 investigation (email way below). Bush/Cheney killed the investigation right after the war resolution was passed. THIS ACT REVEALS THEIR TREACHERY. IT EXPOSES THEIR COMPLETE LACK OF CHARACTER. IT IS INDEFENSIBLE (clue, it's like adultery). We must make them talk about this. They DON'T want to talk because they KNOW THERE IS NO DEFENSE.
DISCREDIT BUSH'S OIL WAR BY DISCREDITING HIS CHARACTER.
ACTION STRATEGY: Call congressional offices with two-part demand:
1. Stop Oil War II that will explode into a worldwide conflagration.
2. Demand the IMMEDIATE IMPEACHMENT of Bush/Cheney for the crime of obstruction of justice by their treasonous refusal to investigate 9/11.
(IF THOUSANDS DIED FROM A TERROR ATTACK IN EUGENE, WOULD YOU BE CONTENT TO HEAR YOUR LEGISLATORS SAY "oh, we can't get an investigation of this. We asked and he won't give it to us." WE ARE ON SOLID GROUND HERE. We have already asked and the answer is no. The time for asking is over.

REASONING: Congress wanted to pass the war resolution so it could get on with pre-election campaign issues that would benefit dems. Within 24 hours of the war resolution, we learn that the administration killed the investigation agreement. They are back in the broncho riding down the highway again. This issue is AS IMPORTANT AS THE WAR ISSUE BECAUSE 9/11 IS THE PRETEXT FOR THEIR WARS. The second they had their war resolution, they killed the agreement. Impeach, depose and investigate this treasonous act. A vote for the GOP is a vote to remain deaf, dumb and blind to your own erasure by govt. fiat.
THEIR MOTTO IS: EVERYONE IS ACCOUNTABLE BUT THEM!!!!
THIS IS NOT GOVERNMENT. THIS IS TRIBALISM DESTROYING THE ENTIRE BASIS FOR GOVERNMENT. THIS IS NOT A WAR THEY ARE PLANNING, IT IS A LYNCHING. This administration has been obsessively demanding unimpeded access for inspectors in Iraq, but kills off an inspection of 9/11. Hussein is said to be incapable of acting responsibly with regard to his willingness to allow for thorough inspections. But Bush fights off inspections of his OWN government, by people in his OWN country, in pursuit of nothing less than the truth about 9/11. Bush complains that Hussein wants limits on the scope of UN and US inspections in Iraq, but Bush demands limits on inspections of the events of 9/11.
Bush condemns dissenters for their efforts to slow his pursuit of war powers "before" the elections, but works to postpone inspections of the 9/11 tragedy till "after" the elections. We all want to know what, if anything, Saddam is hiding; and we also want to know what, if anything, W is hiding.
This question is long overdue: SINCE WHEN DO WE HAVE TO NEGOTIATE TO INVESTIGATE WHY 3000 AMERICANS WERE SLAUGHTERED ON U.S. SOIL? WHAT BASTARD DEMANDED THAT AND WHERE IS IT WRITTEN? (The first question I intend to ask of Wyden's office tomorrow).
Who the hell is the President of the United States who dares turn the investigation of murdered Americans into Let's Make a Deal?
WHAT BUSH/CHENEY ARE SAYING BY REFUSING TO INVESTIGATE 9/11: By refusing to investigate, but shamelessly exploiting for war the 3000 who died that day, they show not only their complete lack of respect for life and American lives, they are saying to us this: We will get our posse together and lynch those we WANT to hold responsible, guilty or not, and we REFUSE to do a thorough investigation to make sure we are right or learn how to prevent this from happening again. We will lead you down the primrose path with discussion of an investigation that should have occurred a year ago, but the minute we have what we want, we will kill the investigation because the purpose of the dead of 9/11 is to be used to advance OUR WAR AGENDA. THEY HAVE NO OTHER VALUE TO US. THE ONLY LIVES WE VALUE ARE OUR OWN. THE ONLY AGENDA WE VALUE IS OUR OWN. WE HAVE NO RESPECT FOR AMERICAN LIVES, AMERICAN LAWS OR AMERICAN PROCESSES.*
*INVESTIGATIONS are what decent societies do IMMEDIATELY after crimes to honor the dead and society's need to prevent a recurrence. Not a year later, but IMMEDIATELY! Bush/Cheney have refused to honor the dead OR the DEMANDS of a decent society THAT REQUIRES AN INVESTIGATION. They don't care how it happened. THEY OPENLY DEFY THE CONSTITUTION AND ITS PRINCIPLES. THEY STAND IN CONTEMPT OF OUR LAWS.
GLOBAL RULE 1: A nation that is not serious about preventing terrorism on its soil opens itself up to the accusation that they would allow a terrorist act to occur for logistical reasons, as a pretext for launching a war. No leader who stands plausibly accused of this can be trusted OR lead. Bush/Cheney stand so accused, and we must make our voices known to our representatives that we are on to them. By this willful act of obstruction of justice, BUSH/CHENEY HAVE NO CREDIBILITY ON THE WORLD STAGE.
We have only vague information on how the events of 9/11 were able to occur. Based on our knowledge to date, there seems to have been serious, and in some cases - as in the freezing out of the loop of the NY FBI office, UNBELIEVABLE evidence of criminal negligence that led to this astonishing breakdown in security. BASED ON THE LACK OF AN INVESTIGATION TO DATE, WE HAVE NO REASON TO ASSUME THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN - that there cannot be thousands more killed in places like Atlanta, Seattle, or Eugene. We don't have this reassurance because THE LEADERS IN THE WHITE HOUSE DO NOT WANT US TO KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED AND HOW WE CAN PROTECT OURSELVES FROM HAVING IT HAPPEN AGAIN. BUSH/CHENEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE DEAD. THEY FEED ON THEM LIKE VULTURES. THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR OUR LAWS, OUR WAY OF LIFE OR OUR FORM OF GOVERNING.
What are they hiding? That the government DELIBERATELY FAILED TO PROTECT US BECAUSE IT WAS NOT IN THEIR INTEREST TO DO SO? For all those who say that the answer to that question is NO, PROVE IT WITH THE FACTS OF AN INVESTIGATION! OUR GOVERNMENT IS CONDUCTING A LYNCHING BECAUSE IT DOES NOT WANT TO SEE AN AGGRESSIVE INVESTIGATION TAKE PLACE!! THIS IS ANARCHY, NOT GOVERNMENT. THIS IS MOB RULE BY AN OIL ELITE.
From now until November 5th, THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT - why our leaders are behaving like traitors. ...Why they are exploiting the dead of our fellow citizens and dishonoring them by refusing to investigate their deaths.
BUSH/CHENEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR LIFE:
Their refusal is a cannibalizing of the dead and a crime against their humanity. Bush/Cheney have NO RESPECT FOR THE DEAD BECAUSE THEY HAD NO RESPECT FOR THEIR LIVES. EACH DAY THEY OBSTRUCT THEY ADD PROOF TO THIS CONCLUSION. Because they are unwilling to investigate HOW this could have happened, they have NO INTEREST IN PREVENTING IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THE PATRIOT ACT IS PURE BUSY WORK, A MEANS OF OPPRESSION, NOT INVESTIGATION. They are using the dead to advance their agenda in the same way a lynch mob operates and murders anyone it chooses to vent its anger and prejudice and secure its dominant power.
They are CLEARLY obstructing justice, a high crime in this case. Why has no one called for their impeachment?
It has been reported that two angry legislators have blasted the White House for this obstructionism. Two legislators -- that many, huh? Where are Daschle, Gephardt, and all the rest of the democrats? Where is the demand for censure, for impeachment, for arrest, for a goddamned explanation? ANYTHING? The time for asking is over. The White House drove their tanks over the Congress and they are spinning the tracks for their next attack. The Broncho continues its slow ride down the highway and we are the frogs in the frying pan, slowly scorching over the past year. Now our legislators have voted for WAR while FAILING TO SECURE AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION OF THE CRIMES COMMITTED ON 9/11!!!! THERE HAS BEEN A WHOLE YEAR OF INDIFFERENCE, DISRESPECT AND MALICIOUS OBSTRUCTIONISM ON THE PART OF THE WHITE HOUSE. IT IS NOW CLEAR THAT BUSH/CHENEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN HOW 3000 PEOPLE WERE KILLED, HOW 3000 AMERICANS LOST THEIR PROTECTIONS ON U.S. SOIL UNDER U.S. AEGIS. AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO THEY FEEL ANY OBLIGATION TO FIND OUT. How is such a position NOT impeachable?
The ONLY guarantee we have today is the precedent that terrorist attacks - uninvestigated -- WILL be used as an excuse for MORE WAR AND MORE KILLING REGARDLESS OF THE FACTS. WE HAVE RETURNED TO DESPOTISM AND THE BARBARISM THAT GOES WITH IT AND HAVE TURNED OUR BACK ON EVERYTHING OUR FOREFATHERS WROTE INTO OUR CONSTITUTION AND OUR LAWS.
DEMOCRATS HAVE NEGOTIATED NOTHING BUT THE CONTINUED ASSURANCE THAT OUR DEATHS WILL BE PUNISHED INDISCRIMINATELY AND ARBITRARILY. THEY WILL NOT BE INVESTIGATED. BUSH/CHENEY HAVE DECIDED IT ISN'T NECESSARY. THEY HAVE RESIGNED AS MERE MORTAL OFFICIALS AND APPOINTED THEMSELVES GODS. We can either protest and reverse this, or learn to bow and scrape.
Last week we learned that the NY FBI office was frozen out of the loop on the anti-terrorism fight. How many others could not believe their ears when they heard this on Frontline? The NYC FBI office? New York, where the twin towers had been bombed once before and the combatants had vowed to return? There is rarely a time for sarcasm amid tragedy, but this is one of those rare times: One can only wonder why this regime didn't just blow the towers up themselves and save the airlines the loss of the planes.
To have excluded the NYC office... defies belief. No one could exclude that office in a matter of this kind with their credibility intact. Those 3000 people were not just murdered in cold blood. They were abandoned by their government to be murdered in cold blood.
And if there is any American in this country who would not stand firmly against the willfulness of an administration that refuses to investigate 3000 dead on its own soil, then THEY too no longer have any credibility.
It is time to demand impeachment for their criminal and depraved indifference to the safety of Americans from external attack, the first duty of ANY government. Left to them, they will stall it into oblivion. It is up to US to inform our legislators that THEY FAILED TO PROTECT US by failing to secure this investigation. If the White House refuses to cooperate, then the investigation must take place without them. They cooperated with the WH and now they have nothing to show for it. We are no safer today than we were on 09/11/01. The only difference is that Congress has been exposed as a bunch of fools.
From here until 11/5, every democratic legislator should be demanding answers that they can bring back to their CONSTITUENCIES. WHERE IS THE CALL FOR CENSURE? WHERE IS THE CALL FOR IMPEACHMENT? This is the story from now until November 5th: Congress made a deal, and the White House pulled the rug out from under them, killing the deal.
Everyone should know of how BUSH/CHENEY don't give a rat's ass how our tax-payer-funded protection failed us and could fail us once again with acts of terror that ARE LIKELY to kill EVEN MORE Americans as this administration sets course to provoke terrorism into perpetuity. THEY have their special protections. Americans, like the 3000 in NY, PA and D.C., plus thousands of Afghan civilians, have none.
These civilians are our WAR VETERANS today. From now until 11/5, every day is their veterans day.
Let us review the facts. Three thousand are dead from an external enemy, aided and abetted by the criminal negligence of a corrupt illegitimate regime. The president of the U.S. arrogantly, maliciously refuses to honor an investigation - the professional's mission of leaving no stone unturned to found out how so many Americans lost their lives under US protection. He reduces their deaths to commodities - mere statistics to be exploited to launch a permanent state of imperial war, dedicated not to God, or to nature's god, but to the modern "golden cow" of oil. What do our high-minded co-religionists have to say about this today? The Fallwells and the Robinsons and the other whores of Babylon? Hypocrites to the core, they are champing at the bit to kill in the name of their god.
Bush/Cheney have betrayed the dead and ALL AMERICANS by proxy.
