Re: Cokie Roberts; For Which We Stand; The Life of Rufus Easton

Dear Mr. Panetta:
Since last Christmas I sent you two Rufus Easton manuscripts and still don’t
know if you’ve received the second one. The first one you did acknowledge
as not having received it. Did you get the second one? Normally I sell
this book for $25.00 it has some important early American history in it.
I really enjoyed the Brian Lamb interview on Bay Currents.
In watching the Cokie Roberts interview, I was really troubled by Mrs.
Roberts’ remark that “the media is quite open.” As you may or may not know
her father was involved in The Warren Commission Report and was very close
to Lyndon Baines Johnson. If the media is that open why in the world did
she ignore a letter that I sent to her on December 12, 2000.? I have
attached a copy for your to view. When I wrote her I had attached along the
letters to George de Mohrenschildt and LBJ. On this point I would obviously
have to disagree with her.
I would like to go one step further and ask Mr. Roberts why was CIA
Director future Warren Commissioner Allen Dulles writing to de
Mohrenschildt’s brother 10 years before the assassination? Does she think
there may be a conflict of interest in Allen Dulles’ being a Warren
Commissioner when de Mohrenschildt’s grandfather-by-marriage and Allen
Dulles’ uncle cofounded the Secret Service during World War I together?
Since you have supported my research and since you have had her as a
guest, possibly she would feel obligated in answering the question to you
directly. Let me thank you in advance for your time. If you have any
comments they would be welcome.

Respectfully yours, cc: Cokie Roberts

Dear Mrs. Roberts:

I wanted to get your opinion on the enclosed documents. I understand that
your father Mr. Bogg was a Warren Commissioner and friend of Lyndon Baines
Johnson. I have seen the photographs of LBJ attending your wedding to Mr.
Roberts.

Why do you think that Lyndon Johnson was writing and willing to meet with
Lee Harvey Oswald’s closest friend, CIA agent George de Mohrenschildt? De
Mohrenschildt was also writing to LBJ saying “We have many mutual friends.”
De Mohrenschildt met with Lyndon Johnson twice before JFK’s assassination,
on April 26, 1963 and May 20, 1963.

Do you think it was coincidence that de Mohrenschildt was writing to
President Kennedy at the very time he was hanging out with Oswald?

As a dedicated newscaster, I would believe that you would want the public to
know the truth behind President Kennedy’s assassination.

Sincerely yours,
