Robert A. Goerman - Director PLEASE EQUIP YOURSELF WITH AN AM RADIO (PREFERABLY AN AM/FM/CASSETTE RECORDER COMBINATION) DURING EVERY POSSIBLE FIELD INVESTIGATION OF ANY PARANORMAL PHENOMENON. WHY USE AM RADIO? 1) IT WORKS. In those days when foil-festooned "rabbit ears" magically snatched "The Invaders" out of thin air and AM radio ruled the airwaves, radio and television interference was THE commonplace electromagnetic effect associated with so-called "UFO" events. Phenomena-inspired AM radio and TV interference is documented fact plainly acknowledged by skeptic and believer alike. The FCC Interference Handbook independently confirms that the ordinary AM radio is the logical choice for laymen to monitor electrical energies in any locale. It recommends using an AM radio to detect weak electrical noise and troublesome interference within the home and neighborhood. 2) AM RADIOS ARE SIMPLE TO OPERATE. Turn on the power and tune in to any quiet frequency between broadcast stations. That's it. Remember, electrical noise is AM! It behaves exactly like an AM broadcast signal. Your low-fi transistor AM receiver, unable to distinguish between a broadcast signal and electrical noise, will pick up both, amplify both, and deliver both to your speaker. That is why we search only quiet frequencies between regular broadcast carriers. 3) AM RADIOS ARE PORTABLE. Lightweight and extremely durable for the investment, pocketsize AM transistor radios perform flawlessly in the field and on-the-go, not at all impaired by movement or vibration. 4) AM RADIOS ARE EASILY OBTAINED! Perhaps most important, not all would-be paranormal investigators possess a collection of Gaussmeters or magnetometers and Tri-Field Meters. But the abundant supply of inexpensive AM radios means that everyone can immediately contribute to this project. AM RADIO EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES 1) Turn power on. 2) Select any quiet frequency BETWEEN broadcast stations (preferably toward the highest frequencies). WHAT YOU MAY HEAR: 1) STATIC... a. Loud sound of "bacon frying" 2) SOUNDS... a. Roaring up and down the scale b. Speeded-up phonograph record noises c. Harsh shrieking d. High-pitched whistling e. Humming or whine of constant or varying pitch 3) SIGNALS... a. Beeping b. Morse-like "dots and dashes" c. Interference structured into pulses SUGGESTION: Automotive entertainment systems often offer the convenience of presetting radio station selections. Keep your car's AM radio preset to two "quiet frequencies" -- one high, one low -- for an instant check of "electrical noise" in any area. SUGGESTION: AM/FM/cassette tape recorder combinations, sometimes referred to here in the United States as "boomboxes," often allow for direct recording from the radio without external wires or microphones. With the push of a button, these inexpensive entertainment systems can both monitor and record "electrical noise" and related electromagnetic energies in the surrounding area of interest. SUGGESTION: Some interesting thoughts occurred to me while perusing "Phantoms on Film," by Andrew Nichols, FATE magazine, November, 1994. Seems that some researchers from the "Center for Paranormal Studies," while conducting on-site investigation into "haunting phenomena," encountered electromagnetic events of 30-45 seconds duration, described as a wildly fluctuating magnetic field that registers on their Gaussmeters and Tri-Field Meters. When this event or field was encountered, photos (mostly Polaroids) were taken in rapid succession. Pictures were also taken after the event to serve as control photographs. Photographs taken during the "electromagnetic flux" show interesting glowing figures and balls and streamers of light not visible to researchers at that time. Control pictures were normal and suggest that both camera and film were functioning perfectly. What if an AM radio was there at the time, tuned in to quiet frequencies between normal broadcast stations? What other "! ! stories" could these electromagnetic energies present tell us? TELEVISION EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES IMPORTANT: Television must be connected to a VHF antenna. 1) Turn power on. 2) Adjust contrast to maximum. 3) Lower brightness fifty percent. 4) Select channel two. WHAT YOU MAY SEE: 1) Two or three intermittent white horizontal lines...sometimes moving to the top of the screen 2) Flashing ripples 3) Diagonal streaks of light 4) Screen will glow stark white NOTE: The audio may be affected BASIC INFORMATION: As television is a visual medium, optimal results are obtained by observing the interactive clash between broad spectrum electromagnetic noise and an "occupied" channel two at 55.25 megacycles. With higher channels above the 100-megacycle range, most interference becomes increasingly less effective. SUGGESTION: This is not your father's television. Today's solid-state electronic appliances rely on digital circuits. Back in the days when small children were the "remote control," our world of living black and white was subject to blizzards of electronic snow. When we made a selection from our meager menu of available (three or four) television broadcast stations, we spun a channel dial tuning knob often connected to a mechanical turret or a copper electromagnetic coil and brushes that changed position as the dial was turned. After a time, oxidation would build up between the brushes and the coil and distort the picture. Sometimes, wear could also result in poor contact. Vertical and horizontal "HOLD" controls often corrected for some interference coming into the set. These knobs also had contact points that suffered from the same oxidation and wear problems. Television signal reception was a tenuous business at best. To make today's ultra-sophisticated television receivers ! ! more susceptible to electrical noise, simply turn the antenna so that you deliberately and slightly weaken the channel two broadcast signal. BACKGROUND READING: "Free UFO Detectors," by Robert A. Goerman, FATE magazine, April, 2000, Volume 53, Number 4, pages 22-25 _______________________________________________ About the author: Born March 3, 1952, Robert A. Goerman is a lifelong resident of New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Before his "retirement" from UFOs and all things paranormal, his writings appeared in FATE, Saga's UFO Report, Beyond Reality, and Official UFO among others. These efforts from 1967-1982 served as the source material for many books on UFOs and the paranormal. His return to the field has resulted in A&E's THE UNEXPLAINED and HISTORY'S MYSTERIES on the History Channel featuring his discoveries and research. Greenhaven Press plans to reprint "Free UFO Detectors" in a textbook anthology on extraterrestrial life for the high school level sometime this fall. ================================================================ Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh, YHVH, TZEVAOT FROM THE DESK OF: *Michael Spitzer* <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> The Best Way To Destroy Enemies Is To Change Them To Friends ================================================================ www.ctrl.org DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER ========== CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list.
