-Caveat Lector- Libertarianism Freedom Is Not License By: Al Cronkrite
I am always dismayed when a person professing an amoral philosophy demands moral behavior. Libertarian icon Ayn Rand in a recorded interview aired on C-Span called for morality in government. She lamented the fall of intellectuals as a group into the pit of Socialism and called for the rise of a neo-intellectual community to rescue the world Ayn Rand wrote, ""The only proper purpose of a government is to protect man's rights, which means: to protect him from physical violence....The only proper functions of a government are: the police, to protect you from criminals; the army, to protect you from foreign invaders; and the courts, to protect your property and contracts from breach or fraud by others, and to settle disputes by rational rules, according to objective law." Ms. Rand was an extremely coherent woman and was in perfect harmony with Christianity till she wrote those last six words. Rational rules and objective laws have become a serious problem in America. A problem that threatens liberty. Yesterday, in our town, a 36 year old man was arrested by the Sheriff’s Department for urging his 12 year old daughter to physically retaliate against a girl who was calling her names. He was handcuffed, booked, and released on $4000 bail. In Detroit, Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick has threatened to disciple any member of his staff who fails to render a hand salute when they see him exiting his home or vehicle. Unfortunately, the word "moral" when unhitched from transcending authority, loses its meaning, and along with "rational rules" and "objective law" is relegated to the realm of tyrannical opinion. Libertarians and Christians can agree on the need for individual freedom and the need to be free of coercion However, when freedom becomes license it is anathema. Some of the conclusions of Christian Dominionists are similar to those of their Libertarian brothers and sisters but the intellectual input is entirely different. Both Libertarians and Christians tout individual freedom and small government. But while Christians believe that man is essentially evil and requires the harness of immutable law to restrain his errant behavior, Libertarians maintain that man is essentially good and left to his own devices will produce a peaceful and prosperous community. In conjunction with the Founders, Christians contend that freedom can only be maintained in a society restrained individually and corporately by transcending Law. Their mandate for limited government comes from the Bible while the Libertarian’s is a product of individual avarice. Libertarians ignore the Laws of Our Creator, touting open borders, open marriages, sodomy, and pornography. These abominations deteriorate the family. Since marriage and the family form the basic unit of government and provide the engine for procreation, these pagan practices are an immediate danger to Western European Culture and an ultimate danger the existence of the entire human race. Nations were created by God and His Word contains large amounts of information concerning their conduct. Open borders destroy the culture and are a threat to national sovereignty. Neither result supports the peace and order required by a sound social order. Many Libertarians fancy themselves atheists and are inordinate admirers of the human intellect. Intellect not harnessed by the Laws of The Creator is anarchic. Worship of the intellect has caused great havoc. Who has not heard that the "a mind is a terrible thing to waste". In spite of the Gramsci grip on our educational system, education is still a paramount concern. Intellectually gifted students are treated similarly to talented athletes - they are flattered and shamelessly catered to. Friends of David Westerfield, the California engineer convicted of kidnapping and murdering a seven year old girl, are attempting to have his life spared because, "He’s a very creative guy….a very talented guy." Some years ago, a group which included Norman Mailer sprung a smart murderer from jail. He murdered again. God pleasing morality has been sacrificed on the idol of the intellect. This societal error has resulted in a generation of cultural elitists who have been cultivated and are now poised to control the New World Order. They are sure that they know best and seek to be vested with the authority to command the human race. Our culture is rife with what intellect has taught. Television touts women boxers, women heroes, strong willed women, women announcing the news, women executives, women Army officers, women athletes, and women in government. There are black intellectuals, black heroes, black leaders, black Samaritans, black TV hosts, black interviewers, blacks who want reparations, blacks who accuse me of prejudice, and ubiquitous black athletes. In movies, the "f" word is inserted in conversations as if it were used universally. The "s" word is common on the lips of women. We have seen homosexuals in government, homosexual athletes, homosexuals in business, homosexual heroes, persecuted homosexuals, and homosexuals who have been inserted in the plot for no apparent reason. In your face sodomy is pandemic. Blacks make up 7% of the population, commit over 30% of the crime, and take more than they give. Homosexuals make up 1% of the population, spread AIDS and contribute to degeneracy. Women make up over 50% of the population are physically inferior to men and all things being equal would be dominated. I know, it is not polite to mention these things. Please tell me, if we do not mention facts and fail to face truth, where will this lead us? Unrestrained intellect is a threat to humanity! Nowhere, it seems, is the conventional white Christian family portrayed as a peaceful, loving, and productive unit. My wife and I spent most of the month of July in Italy. When Italians immigrated to America early in the Twentieth Century, they were almost all Catholic and noted for having large families. Today, Italy has one of the worlds lowest birth rates (1.4 children per couple average). We spoke with Italians about this anomaly. In an urban environment, children create an additional expense and unlike former agrarian communities offer no particular advantage. Since most Italians no longer own land and both husband and wife are employed in white or blue collar occupations, children are considered an expensive bother, and large families are scarce. Urbanization has allowed the heathen clamor for a reduction in the population to become reality. The Christian European culture is dying. Libertarians have it right in seeking meager, controlled government and individual freedom. They are wrong in supposing human beings with unrestrained freedom will produce a viable society. God created nations and races. He made them different. His lines of responsibility go to both Nations and individuals. He also mandates private property and vests responsibility in individual owners. There is no evidence that He means for man to disrupt His creation. Governments are to protect the mandates God has given. When they usurp God’s dominion as they have in this age, they are evil and will bring destruction on themselves and their people.
