Anna Clark, 19, Amy Minshull 22, both of Brunswick in Melbourne, and Anne-Lise Ahfat 18, of Newtown in Sydney, appeared before the Downing Centre Local Court on charges of offensive behaviour. The women were arrested after they stripped naked and lay on US flags outside the MLC Centre, which houses the US Consulate. A magistrate found the charges proven but recorded no convictions. Each was ordered to pay $59 court costs. A man arrested during today's street march, Peter Mudd, of Newtown in Sydney, pleaded not guilty in the same court to two charges of assaulting police. Another, Malcolm Harmes, 30, of Highgate Hill, Qld, pleaded not guilty to offensive behaviour after he was arrested for burning a US flag outside the US consulate building. Mudd and Harmes were both bailed to reappear in the Downing Centre Local Court on December 12. A New Zealander, Daniel Bruce, pleaded guilty to hindering police. Magistrate Chris Longley was told the IT student travelled to Sydney to take freelance photographs of the WTO protest. Bruce was charged after he climbed on top of a government bus stopped in the city as a result of the protest, the court was told. The charge was dismissed and Bruce was ordered to pay $59 court costs.
