Thus judged, the Endangered Species Act is not only a dismal failure but a treasonous assault on American government and culture. The objective is not saving species but controlling the means to produce food, fuel, timber, minerals and other resources. Whoever controls these controls a nation's land, money and people. Klamath Falls, Oregon, is under siege by environmental extremists and federal agents protecting "threatened" coho salmon and "endangered" shortnose sucker fishes by shutting off all irrigation water from the farming area's Upper Klamath Lake reservoir to the Klamath Reclamation Project to maintain high water in the lake for fish. As fields dry up and crops wither, 1,400 farm families are sliding into bankruptcy and environmental organizations are swarming like buzzards to buy prime farm land at pennies on the dollar. Those embattled farmers are children and grandchildren of war veterans who were promised their land and water "in perpetuity" as a reward for valiant service in World Wars 1 & 2 by the same federal government that now wants to run them off their land . Is this species salvation or government baloney? If coho salmon are "threatened" or otherwise disappearing, why can you still get them in cans at the grocery store or your local food bank? If the shortnose sucker fish is in trouble, why was the federal government recently running a sucker fish eradication program? The federal government's assault on farmers at Klamath Falls is another "taking" of private property and assault on our US Constitution, according to attorney Roger Marzulla, who specializes in in water rights and Endangered Species Act law. This "takings" violation of the Fifth Amendment could ultimately cost the federal government (read "tax payers") a billion dollars in compensation paid to the farmers. Environmental organizations salivating at the prospect of farmers' financial ruin putting 250,000 acres of prime farm land on the market at bargain prices are demanding that the federal government divert $4 Billion from the US Treasury to buy out ALL landowners and return Klamath Basin to depopulated wilderness. That would advance the re-wilding of America demanded by the Wildlands Project and United Nations' Agenda 21. The Endangered Species Act is the club of choice used by federal land agents and extremist environmental organizations to beat Klamath Falls farmers -- who are American citizens and descendents of honored war veterans -- into submission and abandonment of their land. This is the same blunt instrument that bludgeoned rural loggers, miners, ranchers and others in Washington, Oregon, California and other western states in the name of "saving" the Spotted Owl which never was endangered in the first place. The Endangered Species Act was the weapon of choice for attacking construction of the Tellico Dam and for the attempt to shut down Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri to "save" the Indiana Bat. Results clearly show what stated intentions do not. The Endangered Species Act is not and never was intended to protect species. The very way the Act is constructed and enforced shows that from Day One it has been a rural cleansing program for grabbing control of land and natural resources and driving rural people from their land. The Endangered Species Act is supported and financed by government agencies, tax-exempt foundations and environmental extremist organizations interested in building their empires as large as possible, preferably at taxpayer expense. The Endangered Species Act is a abomination. It does not need to be amended or fixed.
