Reminds me of a speech by our former PM Bob Hawke to some Japanese dignitaries,
stating that they should not play 'funny buggers' over trade issues. After a pause
this was translated as 'laughing homosexuals'.
An equivalently funny event is when people misstate such slang, such as when an idiot
at my former place of work told a colleague he 'didn't want to piss in her pants' (!)
presumably meaning he didn't want to piss in her pockets, a slang expression meaning
to BS someone.
