Which Members of Congress are Masons?  Oklahoma City, OK

picture for larger imageThere are 11 Masons in the Senate, and 26 in the
House. Their names follow, courtesy of the Masonic Service Association of
North America.
Masons have been part of the U.S. Congress since President George Washington
laid the cornerstone of the Capitol in a Masonic ceremony on September 18,
1793. The Grand Master of the Masons of the District of Columbia presided
over a ceremony marking an extension of the Capitol in 1851, during which
President Millard Fillmore wore the same Masonic apron donned by George
Washington. Most recently, President Dwight Eisenhower participated in a
Masonic ritual on July 4, 1959, laying the cornerstone for the extension of
the east front of Capitol.
