From: MICHAEL D <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Y`all, If any of you read the Sunday paper or watched TV3 news, you will have seen that Police Minister George Hawkins appears to have completely disregarded the Firearms Ammendment Bill Select Committee which is not expected to report to Cabinet untill February. He says that Universal Registration & the establishment of an independent Firearms Authority (instead of Police) will go ahead, along with Grandfathering of MSSA`s (Military Style Semi Automatic rifles to International readers). So much for the Democratic process !! Regarding Grandfathering (which means I can keep my SLR untill I sell or give it to the Government), I see it as being like the condemned man whose sentence is changed to Life in solitary. Do any of you have any other analogies that I can use to help people understand our situation? It was suggested on the range today that people are often robbed or murdered for jewellery, so maybe we could Grandfather jewellery also. Let me know your thoughts on all this.
