to run vc-svn.el
or VC support for subversion. This signals problem is now the major
hurdle for me.

Subject: Emacs ignores
I just switched from xemacs to gnu emacs 21.3.50.1 on cygwin
1.5.24(0.156/4/2) with an X server (the latest versions I can find). I
have shell-mode working, except that signals sent to the subprocess
are ignored. For example, if I want to cancel or stop a process, I
should be able to type C-c C-c
I don't like the Windows DOS Prompt type command window and so I use
xemacs shell-mode instead. I have a Windows *.exe program that I think
outputs to stderr. When I run it in a shell-mode buffer, a new DOS
Window is opened and all output goes to the DOS window and not the
shell-mode buffer.
I'm trying to use rsync but it hangs and I am unable to kill it using
the Windows task manager. I've seen postings about using rsync for
backup. Is this a known problem? Any ideas?
$ rsync -av d1 d1.bak # command hangs
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
$ uname -srv
CYGWIN_NT-5.1 1.5.7(0.109/3/2)
When I run xinit.exe, the X server starts but hangs. I saw a thread
that attributed this to Zonealarm which I am also using (version
5.1.011.000). I never saw a resolution to the problem. Is the
workaround to use a different firewall program? If so, what firewall
should I use?
Thanks.
Hi,
I use shell-mode in xemacs with cygwin. This works great on a unix
system, but with the cygwin version, xemacs sometimes goes crazy and
takes 100% of the CPU and I often have to kill xemacs. I think it's
related to shell-mode because sometimes when I kill a shell-mode window,
the CPU

FWIW, you can dispense with the batch file, and simply make a shortcut to

I would like to be able to have a Windows shortcut that will do the
equivalent of the following: 1) run cygwin.bat 2) execute xemacs in
the cygwin bash window 3) exit the cygwin bash window 4) leaving xemacs
running.
I would like to start xemacs in this way so I can have my default bash

Is there a program that will beep or make a sound in cygwin? In bash,
I've tried echo -e \\a and I get a control-G char but no sound. Is
there a program that will play a sound file that comes w/ cygwin? I run
xemacs which does produce sounds but I'm looking for a simpler way.

You're right, I wasn't thinking clearly when I wrote the email, sorry.
Oh well, there's always 'cat `cygpath -W`/Media/ding.wav /dev/dsp'. ;-)
Just what I wanted. Thanks. Is there any documentation on
I am installing xemacs on cygwin on a new PC and want to get a smaller
font size like my old PC so more text can fit on the screen.
I recently installed cygwin 1.5.7 and the xemacs 21.4.14 that came with
it, but the fonts are broken. When I select Options-Font Size-, I see
a greyed out menu item
