I'm having trouble using cron on cygwin.
I just installed cron using setup.exe. It didn't create any rc.d
files, so I started it manually by typing cron at the prompt. (I'm a
member of group 0). Although the cron process is running, it doesn't
seem to be running my cron job.

I tried using the Windows Task Scheduler to schedule a bash -c
"hibernate now" command, yet it didn't seem to run. Is there a reason
that bash/hibernate wouldn't like Task Scheduler? If so, what is the
best way to handle this? (Just install and use crond?)

Is it possible to use the Setup installer to just install one specific
package, wihtout having to go through an update option for all of
cygwin?

Gary, could you post a few links to some of those libraries?
Yes, that's exactly what I'd like to do. Why? It's a great way for
unobtrusive, yet noticeable, notifications. My immediate goal is to
script a little unit test runner in the background, which constantly
runs, and loads a green or red
Is there a library, or, even better, a command line utility, in cygwin
to place an icon on the system tray?
Would be a great way to do notifications, especially if it supported
those tool tip popups.
