Installing from local directory, fatal error

2003-12-05 Thread SonyMaster
This is my first time using Cygwin, and my first time on the mailing list. I have downloaded the full Cygwin packages, meaning everyone single one. Then, I run setup.exe, click Next, and select Install from Local Directory. Then, I select the folder of where all the packages where downloaded to,

I've downloaded and installed Cygwin with setup.exe, and when it was done, it asked if I wanted a shortcut on the desktop. And I said yes. Cygwin.pif was then on the desktop. I've very new to this, but I'm fine with *unix. Is there another way to run Cygwin? Thanks, -Zeno -- Unsubscribe info:

Hmm, so the pif file had nothing to do with it. I ran cygwin.bat, and it seems to work fine. I installed everything, but it seems I cannot use any commands, at least not the ones I can think of. bash-2.05b$ gcc bash: gcc: command not found Shouldn't I have gcc if I selected everything? Thanks,

Yes, I'm sure I selected all. Do I need to activate them? I doubt it... The total size of my cygwin (with the bin folder) is: 1.26 GB That is most likely the full install. But why is it not reading any of the commands? Can someone say a command name, that came with the dafault package, so I can

I have already read over the FAQ, userguide, problems page, and searched the archives multiple times, and did not see anything that would help me for this problem. I am sorry for sending emails about this, but I cannot see anywhere else to find help. Yes, maybe I could go to other places, but I

When I changed to the bin directory, the command did not work, so I had to run it via "./cygcheck -srv". I displayed very much text, and the window did not follow it all. I cannot scroll all the way back up... I've forgotton on how to copy all of the text scrolled, so I only got the last parts o

I have sent my email with the attached files, and such. But that was over an hour ago, and the server still hasn't received it. I would expect 20 minutes to be a little much... The total size was 36kb. How long does it take to be received? I know this is not all of a good question to ask, but I

I already knew that, as I stated in my email, that was never received. AOL autocompresses all the files into a zip. There is no way to change that. I am very sure. But I'll still look it over. Thanks, -Zeno -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports:

I emailed AOL directly, to see if there was an option to disable auto compressing files. This is the response I got... "Based on your mail, you want to disable the option in automatically decompressing files when sending a large file as an attachment. Unfortunately, the feature you are asking fo
