A new release of gzip, 1.7-2, has been uploaded and will soon reach a mirror near you; leaving the previous version at 1.7-1.
NEWS: ===== This is a bug fix build for the recently-reported upstream 'gzip -l' regression. For more details on the upstream changes, see the documentation in /usr/share/doc/gzip/. DESCRIPTION: ============ GNU Gzip is a popular data compression program originally written by Jean-loup Gailly for the GNU project. Mark Adler wrote the decompression part. It was developed as a replacement for compress because of Unisys and IBM patents covering the LZW algorithm at the time. The superior compression ratio of gzip is just a bonus. UPDATE: ======= To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system. Save it and run setup, answer the questions and pick up 'gzip' in the 'Base' category (it should already be selected). DOWNLOAD: ========= Note that downloads from cygwin.com aren't allowed due to bandwidth limitations. This means that you will need to find a mirror which has this update, please choose the one nearest to you: http://cygwin.com/mirrors.html QUESTIONS: ========== If you want to make a point or ask a question the Cygwin mailing list is the appropriate place. -- Eric Blake volunteer cygwin gzip package maintainer For more details on this list (including unsubscription), see: http://sourceware.org/lists.html
