The output of the (Cygwin) pwd command is in UNIX format with /cygdrive prepended to it. For example, I am in H: drive pwd gives me /cygdrive/h as my present working directory. I would like to know the rationale for prepending /cygdrive to the directory and if there is an option to suppress it.
