I think the following is a bug in RXVT: if you - click with the left mouse button somewhere, and then - use the scrollbar to go to some other region in the scroll buffer and - click with the right mouse button, you will select a region that apparently extends from - where you clicked the right mouse button to - the screen edge *in the direction* of the left mouse click.
