This one needs a thorough testing, it may or may not be stable. I'm not
fully aware of how all the new function calls operator, so I was unable to
convince myself that everything is being done correctly. Sometime in the
next two months I'll do what I always do, which is to get out my X books and
The XFree86-xserv-4.2.0-7 package has been updated in the Cygwin

Since the x2x thing built so easily, I figured I try to package it for the
Cygwin setup. Here's the setup.hint:

Hi, all,
I installed Xfig 3.2.3d on Xfree86/Cygwin. It works fine except that no
color interface at all. How can I got the color interface. If I use Star
Xwin32, it shows the color GUI. But I prefer Xfree86 since it has no
time limit.
Thanks

Thomas,
You are very welcome! Now that we've helped you, perhaps you want to
volunteer to submit and maintain this as a package for the main
distribution of Cygwin? It's real easy, just follow the instructions at:

When you're ready, just submit the information to
Hi,
I have used cygwin/XF86 4.1.0 on Win95/98 for sometime and it works

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Grabbed the src from DEC, built it in a
jiffy, and voila! It is EXACTLY what I was looking for. FYI - I did some
additional poking around and found this, which describes making x2x more
secure:

Lionel,
Is there any particular reason why you're using the Shadow DirectDraw engine
instead of the Shadow DirectDraw Non-Locking engine? Are you passing a
`-engine 2' parameter?
You're platform, NT/2000, should allow you to use ShadowDDNL if you have NT
4.0 SP3+.
What's going on here?
