Can you try to execute the bat file manually? Start menu - Run type 'cmd' ENTER in the DOS shell enter: cd Desktop cygwin.bat If it run OK, then there is still a problem with windows handling the BAT file extensions in the gui. If it wouldn't start, there is a problem with the bat file

gvim, nautilus do not come up, give no error

Hi, I've tried using different window managers no window manager (startxwin.sh), fvwm2, mwm, but when I run gvim and nautilus, I don't get anything. I go to a xterm in the root. xhost + access control disabled, clients can connect from any host $ gvim -V $ echo $? 57 $ echo $PATH

Hi, I am unable to start xterms, rxvts, emacs in my cygwin/X install. I receive the message _X11TransOpen: unable to find transport for tcp xterm Xt error: Can't open display: localhost:0 when I start a cygwin bash shell, the X multiwindow system, export the DISPLAY to localhost and then
