day, consistently cause my Window 7 64-bit laptop to drop
out of Aero mode if I put it in sleep mode and then wake

host name in the title bar of the window.
For example from my desktop linux box:
ssh -X je...@prodserver
then
gedit
The title bar of the resulting gedit window will be along the lines of:
gedit (on prodserver.host.com)
