I have Norton Internet security 2005 and I installed cygwin cygwin/x.
In the firewall configuration in the programs menu I added manually
Xwin.exe.
The cygwin or cygwin/x start only if I am not connected to internet, but if
I connect to internet, the windows appears (the xterm for example), but
I tried to install tex/latex 3.0.0-1 (last version), but I did not succeed.
The setup, when arrives at /etc/postinstall/post-texmf.sh , I think
something wrong it happens, since I waited for more than 30 minutes (with
Pentium 4) consuming up to 100% of CPU and not proceeding. I had to stop it
Hello, I have another newbie question, that is I have problems with xemacs
with Cygwin/X.
The problems are 2:
1) When I start xemacs from Start button in windows XP, it says error,
could not start C:\cygwin\bin\xemacs-21.4.15.3xe -display 127.0.0.1:0.0
and it doesn't open it.

just an X icon appeared on the Windows bar.
I read the cygwin-x user manual and I tried all the options for the XWin.exe
command. What I was expecting to obtain it was something similar to the
picture of Cygwin X
