I too am having this same problem.
I have been using cygwin/xwin for a few years now and have had no other
problems (besides an issue with purify that the numlock fix resolved for
me a year or 2 ago.)

It works fine from the machine eclipse is running on.
I see both the button events and the key-press events
being logged. Eclipse still does not seem to accept
the button input tho'
There is a some error messages being displayed to the
console when I start up eclipse but I can't seem to
copy it
i'm not sure. How do I tell?
are you running eclipse on a remote linux host and
forwarding the output to an xfree/xserver running on
windows?

successfully i think. at least i am able to ssh to a
remote linux host and run xemacs. i see the xemacs
window frame appear on my laptop and i am able to edit
files. the xemacs application accepts both mouse and
keyboard input.
