US military plane damaged on runway
RTE online is reporting the arrest of a women at Shannon who is "being questioned about damage to an American military plane there."

They claim the women has been staying at the peace camp and that "It is understood the nose of a US Navy cargo aircraft was damaged in an incident on the tarmac early this morning."

If the story is true then this is the sixth succesful Direct Action at Shannon in the last year and the second in which a US military plane was damaged. The largest of these actions back in October saw 150 people take part in breaking down part of the perimeter fence and then entering the airfield itself. A detailed report on this with photos is at http://struggle.ws/wsm/news/2002/shannonOCT.html and more reports on protests in general at Shannon are at http://struggle.ws/wsm/shannon.html

These direct actions in Ireland are part of a growing international anti-war movement that says protesting the war is not enough, we must take action against the war machine. Recent actions have seen blockades of military bases in Britain while in San Francisco up to 2,000 people attacked the INS office.
