Sorry Pascal, but I confirm that with dt 3.4.0 on Windows my memory card inside my card reader is treated exactly as a "normal" folder on my HD/SSD: images files are not copied anywhere else. And the .xmp files are created on my memory card. I installed dt 3.4.0 using "darktable-3.4.0-win64.exe"

I implemented the automatic search for cameras and SD-cards. In short : any device supported by the used gphoto2 library should be detected. If this not happening it should be considered a bug and should be reported as an issue. Am 7. Jan. 2021, 10:04 +0100 schrieb Pascal Obry : > Le jeudi 07

There are differences between 3.2.1 and 3.4.0 concerning importing: 3.2.1 -> 3 buttons (file, folder, device) -> import from memory card copies files to the HS/SSD 3.4.0 -> 2 buttons (file, folder) -> camera (but not the card in the card reader) appears automatically when detected -> import from

I build from git current master, gphoto2 is available and recognized at build process. Nevertheless the buttton is not shown, even if I connect my camera (Sony alpha 77). This camera does not support tethering, so I assume this could be the reason for dt to hide the 'import from camera' button.

The thumbnails do not show up when importing from a folder, only when importing from a device using the 'gphoto2' library. If you see only two buttons in the import module (and not the "scan for devices" button) then your copy of Darktable was not compiled with 'gphoto2' support. I would not
